Besides this ridiculously exciting and varied line up of musical entertainment, the Forest Live shows  at High Lodge, Thetford provide music lovers and their families a host of activities to make it well worth going down to the woods.

Forestry England manage and care for the nation’s 1,500 woods and forests. They use the money Forest Live raises to maintain these beautiful natural areas for everyone to enjoy, run important conservation projects and keep growing trees. Last year they planted some 7.4 million trees and welcomed 313 million visits in 2024/25. Everyone in England lives within a one-hour drive of one of the nation’s forests. Over two million people have enjoyed the Forest Live gigs over the last 25 years.

Following a hugely successful run of shows over the past 25 years, this year sees Forestry England present the concert series in partnership with Live Nation’s Cuffe & Taylor for the third year running.

Please be aware that forests will be open to visit during the day, but may close earlier than usual. You will need to pay day rates for car parking at the forest as this is not included in your Forest Live car parking ticket.

You may need to move your car when the forest closes until car parking opens for Forest Live customers.

No, don’t stop…I still feel a pulse

Zero BPM (Beats Per Minute) Drone Festival The Church Piano Bar, Redwell Street, Norwich NR1 This was less festival, more celebration.  There was the popping of corks for the ‘soft opening’ of Norwich’s latest live music venue, converting St Michael at Plea, smack in the heart of the city, from an evangelical tea, cake and event venue into a dedicated ‘quality’ jazz and blues venue.  There was also champagne metaphorically cracked open on the hull of Zero BPM (Zero Beats Per Minute) to launch an enthralling drone music mini-festival, which I hope can be expanded to be run over a couple of days in the not too distant future, whether in St Michael at Plea, or any other setting. The Zero BPM concept is excellent.  Stimulating, challenging, provocative and food for thought and subsequent conversation.  It would be fun to have more time to talk with performers, organisers and other audience members about what has been played and heard.  The i...

The Paper Kites: New Album If You Go There, I Hope You Find It   I hate to make direct comparisons between bands, it isn’t fair on either, unless it is a tribute band trying to mimic heroes.  The challenge then becomes a question of “If  you like this, try this…” without being patronising, or superficial. I will open this post with the latest single from The Paper Kites for you to have a listen.
