Vieira and The Silvers Headline Show at The Waterfront Studio, Norwich
Rock'n'Roll Brothers and Sisters, Rock'n'Roll!
Friday 12th June 2026
It’s been a while since I saw Diogo Vieira take on a crowd, toss and hurl them around a venue, wipe the floor with them, then put them all through the rock’n’roll mangle to complete the job. That was when Vieira and The Silvers blew away the Red Rooster Festival from the main stage in June 2024.Sadly, Red Rooster has had to pack up the big tent for good, but a lot further down the A11, Vieira and his band have continued to blaze a trail on stages round London and south, reinforcing their reputation as one of the most exciting live bands in the land.
The Silvers have always existed on a fluid line up, with Vieira working with various combinations, adding then taking out, then bringing back in a saxophone, a duo of backing singers, then a trio, then none, more guitars, fewer guitars, a regularly changing cast. This band leader is constantly pushing himself to change things up, mix the magic, stir the broth, which is not easy for everyone following in his charismatic wake.
But let me tell you something, the impact of any combo that the man has with him on stage is never short of dramatic. Diogo is a front man par excellence and well worth any entrance money. He will have a song for you.
The rocket-fuelled, Vieira and The Silvers, headline at The Waterfront Studio on Friday, 12th June, 2026. Don’t go alone, get your gang down there and don’t forget dancing shoes. You will have a great night.
If you cannot reach Norwich on the 12th June, the other gigs of this tour are as follows:
Quite Possibly (Country) Album of the Year Like an Echo - The Gleaves Every now and then, perhaps once every five to ten years, you discover an album that completely knocks you over. Buena Vista Social Club , Definitely Maybe , and Seventeen Seconds are good examples. The genre is unimportant, but the overall impact of the album, which is a record studded with jewels, makes you want to listen to it time after time. While each track has its own appeal, it is the complete package that makes it special. I have played The Gleaves debut album, Like An Echo so many times today that I have lost count of how many plays it's had. It is a quite beautiful, complete album of Country & Western songs that, even if you were into Metallica, you could proudly hold in your music library, justifying your ownership of it to sceptical friends with a phrase like, “So what if its country, it’s a clas...
Zero BPM (Beats Per Minute) Drone Festival The Church Piano Bar, Redwell Street, Norwich NR1 This was less festival, more celebration. There was the popping of corks for the ‘soft opening’ of Norwich’s latest live music venue, converting St Michael at Plea, smack in the heart of the city, from an evangelical tea, cake and event venue into a dedicated ‘quality’ jazz and blues venue. There was also champagne metaphorically cracked open on the hull of Zero BPM (Zero Beats Per Minute) to launch an enthralling drone music mini-festival, which I hope can be expanded to be run over a couple of days in the not too distant future, whether in St Michael at Plea, or any other setting. The Zero BPM concept is excellent. Stimulating, challenging, provocative and food for thought and subsequent conversation. It would be fun to have more time to talk with performers, organisers and other audience members about what has been played and heard. The i...
Oh Yes, Mama! Mama Oh No / Grandbaby / Robin Evans Norwich Arts Centre, Saturday, 22nd June 2024 Surprising as it was, summer arrived in St Benedict’s Street like a man struggling to explain why he was late for a date because he was so into a spreadsheet at work. Well, stuff you summer! All the enthusiastic attention and beautiful flowers aren’t just good enough. I digress. It was a beautiful evening and the old church that is Norwich Arts Centre , with its delightful back garden, was a joy to be at on Saturday. In fact, the Fine City was an overall delight. Music, live or otherwise, filled the old streets, lanes and alleys. Even the occasional poser in a loud motor, had the bass thumping through the side panels, adding an authentic urban boom to Britain’s Biggest Village. The warm still air was perfect acoustically. The backyard at The Plough , one of the very best summer drinking locations in town, was...
